Foldhanger

Foldhanger re-thinks the construction of a common coat hanger, inspired by the simple act of taking a guest's coat upon entering a house.

For the exhibition ‘Housewarming for Airbnb’ I was asked to design a piece as a welcoming ritual, for display in the entrance hall. Once folded, a single sheet of thin plywood can provide great stability. Using this characteristic, I realized a strong and durable coat hanger. I produced multiples of this humble object of hospitality for guests to check in their coats or bags on arrival into the exhibition.
