A mural/mirror inspired and shaped entirely out of silicon-based material. It is a personal interpretation of “the essence of beauty” for the Saint-Etienne Design Biennale 2015.

Silicon is the second-most abundant element in the earth’s crust after oxygen. To obtain its purest form, humanity has gone through a long research process, yet we are only able to reach 99.9 % pure silicon. Herein lies the essence of beauty. Even in the greatest perfection, lies imperfection. This piece shows the different states of silicon, giving focus to the beauty that comes out along the way of processing silicon, from natural found granite to artificially purified.
